Did you know that…

Work in this field is very satisfying.
This is challenging work. It's great to help people by preventing problems and by solving them when they happen. Job mobility is excellent within one of North America's largest industries.
Working conditions are safe and clean, much better than in the past.
There are no more "grease monkeys". There are still some occupations where you will get your hands dirty, but many where you won't.
Workers are paid well.
Wages can be very different across the country, but here are a couple of examples. Auto service technicians can make $15/hour or a lot more. Service managers can make $30-$50/hour or more. (Knowledge + Skills + Experience + Good Attitude = $)
Training and education are important.
The starting point is a high school diploma. Some workers need only that, but most need more. Skilled trades are entered through apprenticeship programs. Apprentices are paid while they learn. College or university is needed for some occupations.
You have to keep learning to keep up.
Automobile technology and the business world are changing quickly, so employees need on-going training to keep their skills up-to-date.
It's important to do well in school.
Math, Science, English, Technology, Business and Computer courses are all important. Automotive repair and service applies these subjects to the workplace, both in the shop and in the business operation.
